Free UWS Lunchtime Summer Concert Series Launches This Week

A jazz concert series will take place every Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Dante Park at Broadway and West 64th Street.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Lincoln Square area of the Upper West Side is about to get a little jazzier.

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District will launch its Summer Jazz Sensations concert series at Dante Park on Wednesday.

Free performances from noon to 1:30 p.m. will take place every Wednesday through Aug. 30.

"Encouraging locals and visitors to celebrate the neighborhood, the series will bring people out into the district, where they can grab lunch locally, shop, and see all that Lincoln Square has to offer," reads an explanation of the concert series on the Business Improvement District's website.

The first performance of the year will be the renowned saxophonist Eric Person, with the series also set to feature Cilla Owens and Smooth Sailing, the Brian Charette Trio, the Mike Jackson Trio, and the Tony Jefferson Quartet.

The Summer Jazz Sensations concert series is funded and supported in part by Council Member Gale Brewer the City Council.

The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District is focused on supplemental sanitation and security services, beatification of public spaces, and promotion of the area's business and cultural offerings within the Lincoln Square community.
