Here's Where Upper West Side COVID Rates Stand As Spring Begins

COVID rates have continued to fall across the city since the beginning of the year. Here's how the current rates compare to the UWS.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It has been good news on the COVID-19 front in New York City since the beginning of the year.

Starting on the first day of January, the seven-day positivity average in the five boroughs has been significantly falling. In NYC, the rate has gone from 15.39 percent on Jan. 1, all the way down to 2.67 for the week ending on March 19.

But how does that current citywide number compare to the three ZIP codes that make up the Upper West Side.

To start with, the Upper West Side has also seen its COVID rate fall significantly. The neighborhood was posting seven-day averages of over 15 percent on the first of January, but now doesn't have a ZIP code over 6 percent.

With that being said, all three of the Upper West Side ZIP code's most recent seven-day averages are higher than the citywide number, but two of them are only marginally higher.

Here are the most recent seven-day positivity averages and other corresponding information for the UWS' three ZIP codes, according to data from the city.

10025: Upper West Side/Manhattan Valley

  • 6.09 percent positive
  • 38 new positives
  • Median daily test rate per 100,000: 119

10024: Upper West Side

  • 2.92 percent positive
  • 9 new positives
  • Median daily test rate per 100,000: 87

10023: Upper West Side/Lincoln Center

  • 3.20 percent positive
  • 12 new positives
  • Median daily test rate per 100,000: 102

The average COVID percent positivity rate of the Upper West Side ZIP codes? 4.07 percent.

The eye-catching 10025 ZIP code percent positivity number of 6.09 percent is the eighth highest in the five boroughs, and the fifth highest in Manhattan.
