UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The Lincoln Square Business Improvement District will host one of the biggest holiday tree lightings on the Upper West Side.

The lighting will take place Monday at 5 p.m. within Dante Park at Broadway and West 64th Street, across from Lincoln Center.

This year's tree is a 30-foot Concolor Fir, which recently arrived from upstate New York, and also featured star-shaped ornaments that were designed by community members. The neighborhood residents designed the ornaments at Color Me Mine, Upper West Side — a nearby pottery studio.

"The tree symbolizes the resiliency of the neighborhood with new restaurants and businesses opening in recent months and the return of performances at Lincoln Center," reads a news release from the Lincoln Square BID.

Additionally, this year's holiday lighting program marks the return of the choreographed lighting installation "Tumbling Brights," a procession of 15 lighted spirit figures illuminating the Broadway Malls from Columbus Circle up to 70th Street.

At the lighting, the Lincoln Square BID will also announce a series of pop-up performances that will take place throughout the month of December, featuring local singers, dancers, carolers and more that represent the cultural fabric of the neighborhood.

Here are some of the people that will be in attendance:

  • Monica Blum: President of the Lincoln Square BID
  • William Castro: Manhattan Borough Commission for the NYD Dept. of Parks & Rec
  • Claudia Martinez Azzara: Owner of Color me Mine, Upper West Side
