Luxury Condo “The Westly” Nears Completion on the Upper West Side

Reveals Double-Height Lobby Featuring Grand Staircase

The Westly, a 20-story luxury condo development located at 251 West 91st Street on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, today revealed its double-height lobby offering a first look inside the building’s common spaces as it nears completion. Designed by ODA, The Westly’s lobby design combines art deco inspiration with traditional materiality, and the sensibilities of the Upper West Side.

Activating the double-height lobby space is a towering chandelier, evoking old glamour with faceted glass but a distinctly modern profile. The focal point of the space is undoubtably the unique, helix shaped grand staircase cladded with more than 100 custom selected Calacatta Gold marble pieces from Italy. The grand staircase connects The Westly’s lobby to the second-floor amenity spaces, including a fitness center and yoga studio; lounge; children’s playroom; youth room for gaming; and music room. The Westly’s rooftop includes a pool with recreational and lounge areas.

The Westly’s lobby features large mosaic flooring combining limestone, Michelangelo and Calacatta Gold as a modern interpretation of classic black and white tiled foyers. A warm wood paneling is used throughout the space and modernized with strong verticality through the addition of backlit glass panels and decorative angled metal frames that contrast the paler shell. The lobby furniture purposefully provides a softness as a contrast to the building’s modern architecture. A Vuelta sofa featuring a strong curvature in a bold merlot velvet materiality further distinguishes it from the space.
