UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Get ready to laugh! A beloved New York City comedy club is expanding its footprint and heading uptown to the Upper West Side this summer.

In honor of 35 years of laughter and camaraderie within the New York comedy community, New York Comedy Club recently announced the opening of its newest venue at W. 78th St., nestled between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue.

The New York Comedy Club's latest addition on the Upper West Side will revitalize the comedy scene by taking over the premises currently housing Stand Up NY comedy club.

This new venture will mark the chain's fourth location, joining the ranks of its existing clubs in Midtown, the East Village and in Connecticut.

"At our clubs, rising stars share the stage with the biggest names in comedy, so you never know who might drop in: Hannah Berner, Ronnie Chieng, Pete Davidson, Chris Distefano, Janeane Garofalo, Nikki Glazer, Judy Gold, Kevin Hart, Jessica Kirson, Matteo Lane, Hasan Minhaj, Tracey Morgan, Aparna Nancherla, Andrew Schulz, and Sarah Silverman… to name just a few," the club's website boasts.

Since its inception in 1989, New York Comedy Club has been a cornerstone of the comedy scene, starting with its flagship location on E. 24th Street. Over the years, it has expanded its reach with two more venues: one in the East Village in 2018 and another in Stamford, CT, just last year.

"We’ve been at the heart of the New York comedy scene for more than three decades, and remain dedicated to the work, to the talent, to the community, and to preserving the exhilarating “anything can happen” vibe that is unique to live comedy," the club owners wrote on their website.

While an exact opening date has not been revealed, club co-owner Emilio Savone hinted at the fact that the opening will be centered on the original club's 35th anniversary.
