CENTRAL PARK, NY — Police are on the hunt for a trio of motorcyclists after one of them struck a New York City police officer in the face while they were being escorted out of Central Park, authorities said.

Police said the on-duty NYPD officer was riding a marked police scooter, leading the motorcyclists out of the park near West Drive and W. 90th St. around 4:05 p.m. on Friday, when the attack occurred.

One of the motorcycle riders randomly struck the officer, causing him to tumble from his scooter and onto the pavement, police said Monday.
