UPPER WEST SIDE, NY – Why make the trek down to Broadway when you can see some of the best theater New York has to offer right here in the neighborhood?

“N/A: The Play,” which depicts the clash between “N,” based on former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (now Speaker Emerita), and “A,” the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, stars Holland Taylor and Ana Villafañe as Pelosi and Ocasio-Cortez, respectively.

Performances take place at the Lincoln Center Theater, at 150 W. 65th Street, through Sept. 1.

Shakespeare In Riverside Park

Although Friday night’s performance is canceled due to rain, Saturday’s weather may be ideal for outdoor theater.

Through Aug. 18, the Hudson Classical Theater Company presents Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” at Riverside Park’s Soldiers’ & Sailors’ Monument near 89th Street.

One of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies, “Twelfth Night” begins when our heroine, Viola, is shipwrecked in a strange land – What country, friends, is this? – and must disguise herself as a man to survive. Naturally, she becomes the object of desire for both a duke and his love-struck lady.

The play features a few of Shakespeare’s sharpest quips, many of which are uttered by a favorite fool, Feste:

Many a good hanging prevents a bad marriage.

Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.

Know before you go: this production features music and singing.

Performances begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and although cushions are provided, it’s not a bad idea to bring a folding chair or other seat.
