Man, 22, Killed After Jumping In Front Of UWS Train: Police

The train operator pulled the emergency break coming into the 72nd Street station but was not able to stop in time, police said.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — A 22-year-old man died after jumping in front of a train on the Upper West Side Monday morning, police told Patch.

The man jumped in front of an incoming 2 train about 10 a.m. at the 72nd Street station, police said.

The operator hit the emergency break as the train was coming into the station, but wasn't able to stop in time, police said.

The 22-year-old was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Hours earlier, a man was fatally struck by a train in an Upper East Side subway station, officials said.
