UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — New footage has emerged of a group of armed thieves stealing motorcycles from New York City streets this summer, including an incident on the Upper West Side.

Police said on June 23, around 10 a.m., three thieves on motorcycles approached a red motorcycle parked at 200 West 86th Street, near the corner of Amsterdam Avenue, intending to steal it.

After successfully starting the motorcycle, the robbers fled the scene with the vehicle, valued at approximately $6,000, heading westbound on 86th Street, according to police.

Police have also linked the group to five more incidents in recent months, including a theft on July 8 at 177 Fort Washington Ave. There, four individuals stole a black motorcycle valued at $31,000.

On the same day, around 3 p.m., six members of the group were spotted outside 1010 Park Avenue, between East 85th and East 86th streets.

According to police, they approached a 48-year-old man on his motorcycle, brandished a gun, threatened him, and forcibly took his red Yamaha motorcycle valued at approximately $22,000 before fleeing northbound on Park Avenue.

In another incident in late May, two men riding a black motorcycle approached a 53-year-old man walking near West 185th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue, demanding he remove his necklace, police said.

Eventually, one of the robbers pulled out a gun, threatening the man, while the other forcibly removed the necklace valued at approximately $6,000, authorities said.

The men then fled southbound on Saint Nicholas Avenue, according to NYPD officials.

Authorities have described the suspects as men with a medium complexion.
