Upper West Side Private School Named 6th Best In United States

The neighborhood school was also named the best private institution in New York City. Find out which.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — In some Upper West Side pride, a school in the neighborhood was just named the sixth best in the United States for the 2022-23 academic year.

That school is Trinity School at 139 W. 91st St., which is also the best private institution in New York City, according to a list compiled by the school-ranking website Niche.

It is the third year in a row that Trinity has been named the best private high school in the five boroughs.

Here are the specified grades it received for different elements of the school:

  • Overall: A+
  • Academics: A+
  • Teachers: A+
  • Clubs & Activities: A+
  • Diversity: A
  • College Prep: A+
  • Sports: B

The K-12 Upper West Side school has 1,001 students with a student-teacher ratio of six to one, according to Niche.

Trinity was the only New York City private school ranked in the top 10 nationally by Niche, with the Riverdale Country School in the Bronx coming in at the 11th spot.

On a more local level, Collegiate was the next highest ranked Upper West Side private school, which came in at seventh in the city in the category and also as the third-best all-boys school in NYC.

Trinity's annual tuition is $58,000, according to its website.

The Upper West Side high school does offer expansive financial aid, though. Its website says "many families receive partial aid" and that the process is need-based.

The Trinity School was founded in 1709.
