NEW YORK, NY — It is the first weekend of August and there is plenty to do around New York City in the coming days.

This weekend's events include a beach festival and a comedy show.

Saturday

Summer Streets: Manhattan

The popular Open Streets program from the Department of Transportation is returning to Manhattan on Saturday.

Much of the event will take place on Park Avenue, 95 blocks of which will be car-free from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. on three upcoming Saturdays, Aug. 5, 12, and 19.

Brooklyn Beach Sports Festival: Coney Island, Brooklyn

The Brooklyn Beach Festival will feature pushup contests, tug o'war battles, sand pickleball, and much more.

The free event will take place on the Coney Island beach from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Brooklyn Museum First Saturday: Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

Check out the Brooklyn Museum for free with registration on Saturday.

There will be live music performances, a pop-up market, Caribbean poets, and more.

Ali Wong at the Beacon Theater: Upper West Side, Manhattan

Comedian and actress Ali Wong will be performing at the Beacon Theater at 2124 Broadway on Sunday night.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Brent Faiyaz: Central Park for Summer Stage

The star R&B singer Brent Faiyaz will be performing in Central Park this weekend as part of the SummerStage programming.

The concert will start at 6 p.m. at the Rumsey Playfield.
