GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — A nondescript residential building less than a 10-minute walk from Washington Square Park doesn't look particularly special from the outside, but one of its apartments is deeply intersected with two of the greatest artists of the 20th century.

Multiple units at 57 Great Jones St. in NoHo, near East 3rd Street, were recently listed for rent by the Meridian Capital Group.

The legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat rented an apartment and studio space in 1983 within the building from none other than his friend Andy Warhol. Basquiat would go on to live at the address until his death in 1988.

Warhol owned the building until 1990.

The options on the listing are for the Ground Floor, Second Floor, and Lower Level, but the monthly rent is only available upon request.

Multiple publications have reported, though, that it will cost you a staggering $60,000 a month for the entire building.

The listing describes the 6,600 square-foot second floor that Basquiat used as a studio as an "open loft space with high ceilings and multiple skylights."

The listing adds that the building is fully equipped for a restaurant space with venting and gas in place, but that all uses for address will be considered.

Village Preservation installed a plaque at the front of the building that reads, "Basquiat's paintings and other work challenged established notions of high and low art, race and class, while forging a visionary language that defied characterization."

Basquiat, who was born in Brooklyn and was a integral part of the Neo-expressionism movement during the 1980s, had his work become only more popular after his death.

In 2017, his paining "Untitled" sold for a stunning $110.5 million, which is the most ever paid at an auction for an American's work.
