1 Dead, 3 Wounded In Fayetteville Shooting

Police and paramedics arrived on the scene near Fayetteville State University to find four people suffering from bullet wounds Saturday.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC β€” One person was killed and three others were hospitalized in a shooting near Fayetteville State University Saturday night. The killer was not in custody as of late Saturday night.

The shooting occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of Slater Avenue, according to the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit.

"At approximately 9:27 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a shots fired notification from Shot Spotter and multiple 911 calls for reports of a shooting," according to a statement issued by the Fayetteville Police Department. "Upon arriving on scene, officers were notified by Emergency Medical Service Personnel that 4 subjects were transported to a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the four victim’s succumbed to his injuries at the hospital."

Authorities did not release the identity of the slain man pending notification of his family. The three remaining gunshot victims are hospitalized in stable condition, according to police.
