  1. The Winston-Salem police are once again partnering with a local self-defense studio to offer free classes for women in the area. The class will take place on Oct. 14 at the R&D Academy of Self-Defense, with officers exploring additional dates. At the event, officers will give a talk about awareness, followed by instructors demonstrating how women can defend themselves in a variety of situations. (CBS17.com)
  2. A Winston-Salem woman is now facing charges for shooting her boyfriend during an argument that occurred early Saturday morning. According to police reports, the 31-year-old suspect fired two rounds, the first of which struck a glass door, and the second hit her boyfriend in his shoulder. The suspect is now charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, injury to real property, and discharging a firearm in the city, and is currently being held in jail without bond.   3. The Forsyth County Public Library is seeking teens interested in joining the Teen Advisory Board. Children aged 12-18 who join the Advisory Board will meet virtually once a month, beginning on today, Oct. 3, to discuss ways the library can improve its teen programs and services.
