First Ohio Governor Debate Set For Wednesday; Here's How To Watch

Polls show that the governor's race between Republican Mike DeWine and Democrat Richard Cordray​ is close

DAYTON, Ohio - The first Ohio governor debate of 2018 will be held Wednesday night at the University of Dayton. Polls show that the governor's race between Republican Mike DeWine and Democrat Richard Cordray is close and is expected to be one of the most expensive in the country. The debate starts at 7 p.m.

WHIO-TV, Dayton Daily News and WHIO Radio are the media partners for the debate with News Center 7 anchor James Brown serving as the moderator.

The debate will be conducted in front of an audience of 150 guests at the university’s Daniel J. Curran Place on the River Campus. The guests were invited by the university and the campaigns and no tickets were issued to the general public.

News Center 7 political reporter Jim Otte, Dayton Daily News Columbus Bureau reporter Laura Bischoff and University of Dayton assistant professor of political science Christopher Devine will ask questions during the hour-long debate.

A second debate will be held on Oct. 1 at a town-hall forum held at Marietta College.
