HILLSBORO, OR β€” Hillsboro Mayor Steve Callaway is getting some national attention. The two-term mayor was elected to the board of directors of the National League of Cities.

The League, which counts elected officials and staff from cities across the United States, acts as an advocacy group for municipal priorities in Washington, D.C.

The board of directors helps set the direction for the organization.

"By bringing Hillsboro's successes to NLC members, I'm hoping our experience can help all cities and towns across America," Callaway said. "Many of the issues we face as Americans require us working together to find solutions at the federal level.

Callaway will serve a two-year term. He was selected by a 15-member nominating committee and then confirmed by a vote of the League's more than 1,000 members.
