AMBLER, PA — Scammers are posing as the Ambler police department in phone calls to area residents as part of an effort to extract personal information.

The scammer lied and told the person that they were part of an "ongoing investigation" and that they needed to confirm various details.

"Please never give personal information out to anyone," police said in a statement. "If you are concerned about a call you received, please call the police department to report it. We usually get multiple calls like this as the scammer is trying to get one person to give them their information."
