ARDMORE, PA — Even with temperatures getting colder in the Philadelphia region, many golfers are trying to get in as many rounds as possible before winter sets in. And lucky for Philadelphia-area golfers, Golf Magazine says a course in the region is among the nation's best.

Golf Magazine recently released its list of the 10 best golf courses in each region of the United States.

Four regions — the west, heartland, southeast, and northeast — were looked at. In the northeast region, it was Merion Golf Club in Ardmore that made the top 10.

This marks the first time the magazine has done a regional breakdown and did so "showcase the country’s geographic diversity."

"American golf courses — much like the land they preside over — are a geographic melting pot," the magazine writes. "In order to better understand the qualities of our land mass, it’s helpful to create a further subset of it. In other words, it’s helpful to condense further down into regions."
