Compost Bins, Rain Barrels, Worm Farms Available In Lower Merion

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Merion residents looking to go green can now purchase compost bins, rain barrels, and worm farms from the township.

The township has recently restocked its supply of compost bins, rain barrels, and worm farms, all of which have eco-friendly benefits.

Compost bins cost $51.20 each and can hold 65.8 gallons of compost. The bins have doors on each side and a removable lid for easy access. Compost material is a great, environmentally friendly garden fertilizer created by discarding decomposable food scraps in a bin and letting it break down.

Rain barrels cost $65 and can hold 58 gallons of rain water. Each barrel has a spigot that can have a garden hose affixed to it. The barrels also have screened lids and screened overflows. Rain barrels

And worm farms cost $13.10 each. The worm farms have a 4.2 gallon volume capacity. Worms help facilitate organic waste recycling and play an important role in soil construction in doing so.
