Gas Leak Lasts 3-Plus Hours In Ardmore: Fire Officials

The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore said the gas leak was stopped more than three hours after a contractor caused the leak Tuesday morning.

ARDMORE, PA — Gas leaked in Ardmore for more than three hours Tuesday, according to first responders.

The Merion Fire Company was called to Montgomery Avenue at Glenn Road for a report of a major gas leak at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire company said a contractor caused the leak.

Firefighters evacuated a nearby apartment building and stretched hand lines to be ready for any potential flames or explosions.

Responders also used meters to monitor air quality in the area.

The fire company said PECO was able to stop the leak in just over three hours.

No one was hurt in the incident.
