Lane Closures Impacting Lower Merion Traffic Through May 3

Ongoing work on the St. Joseph's University pedestrian bridge is forcing lane closures and traffic shifts on City and Cardinal avenues.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A new traffic pattern is in place on City Avenue in Lower Merion and Philadelphia due to construction of the St. Joseph’s University pedestrian bridge, PennDOT said.

Now through Friday, May 3, City Avenue/U.S. 1 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between 59th Street and Lapsley Lane. The lane reduction will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Traffic will be shifted to accommodate the new pattern.

Additionally, now through Friday, May 3, a 24-7 closure will impact Cardinal Avenue between U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Overbrook Avenue/Wynnefield Avenue.

During the closure, motorists will use 59th Street, Overbrook Avenue, Wynnefield Avenue, and 54th.
