Lower Merion School District's Norton Seaman Dies At 84

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — A longtime member of the Lower Merion School District community has dies.

Norton "Nort" Seaman passed away at 84 on May 3, according to his obituary.

Seaman was involved in the district in many ways, starting as a physical education teacher at Harriton High School in 1969, according to the district.

Seaman later became Harriton's assistant principal, acting principal and then principal.

He remained as principal from 1991 to 1998 when he retired.

Post retirement, he was acting principal at Harriton in 2004 and 2005, Gladwyne Elementary in 2005 and then Lower Merion High School in 2007 and 2008, the district said.

"Mr. Seaman will be remembered in LMSD for his passionate dedication to students and for the warmth of his personality in all of his interactions, not only with students, but also with staff and families," the district said. "He was an exemplary educator, coach and leader."

He is survived children Trent, Eric, Evan, Brannon and grandchildren Torri, Lauren, Jonathon, Cole, Aydan, Lily, Marley, Sloan, Marek, Gavin, Roman and Cale.

He was predeceased by his late wife Barbara and brother Lloyd Seaman, according to his obituary.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation from 4 p.m. 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at the Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, and to his funeral service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Advent Lutheran Church, 1601 Green Lane, West Chester.
