LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion School District is making some changes to its free meal distribution program for children.

Next week the district will only offer meal pick up once a week in the Suburban Square parking lot at Anderson and Montgomery Avenues (across from the former Ruby’s location)

Starting Tuesday, May 12, 10 meals will be available for pick up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each child will still get five breakfasts and five lunches each week.

Meals will continue to be available between those hours on Tuesdays until further notice.

The changes in meal distribution comes as the district works to limit potential exposure to COVID-19 and further protect the health and safety of district staff and community members.

According to the district, meals distributed Wednesday included additional meals to cover Monday lunch and Tuesday breakfast for next week.

Preregistration for meals is requested, but not required. Families are encouraged to register online here.

More than 30,000 meals have been distributed to children since the district began offering meals on March 17, according to the district.

The meal distribution program is possible through Nutritional Services staff, Operations staff, Nursing staff, and community volunteers.
