Memorial Day Shooting At Main Line American Legion Prompts Manhunt

ARDMORE, PA — A shooting at a Main Line American Legion on Memorial Day post has led authorities on a manhunt for the person they say pulled the trigger.

Andrew McCutchen, 35, of Philadelphia, is wanted for attempted homicide and related offenses. Police said McCutchen should be considered armed and dangerous.

Lower Merion Township Police were called to the Spencer Reid American Legion Post in Ardmore for a report of a shooting inside the establishment Monday. A 26-year-old man suffered multiple gunshots, police said. He is in stable but critical condition, police said.

According to police, the victim, whose identity was not released, was targeted after an earlier disturbance at the Legion.

Police said the shooter then drove off. As he drove off, a man came out of the Legion and fired several rounds at the vehicle, police said. It's unclear if anyone in the vehicle was struck by gunfire.

Police are working to formally identify the second gunman.

No one else was hurt in the shooting inside or outside the Legion.

As a result of the investigation, police identified McCutchen as the initial shooter, police said.

He is 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs about 220 pounds, and has an athletic build. McCutchen has a full black beard, medium length hair in short braids or twists, distinctive teardrop tattoos under his right eye, and a dime-sized dark mark under his left eye.

He was last seen wearing prescription eyeglasses, a black soft brimmed hat, white T-shirt, black athletic shorts, and white socks and sneakers.

Police looking for a vehicle involved in the shooting: a dark gray 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS, with be Pennsylvania license plate reading MMN-9443. The vehicle has a bumper sticker to the right of the license plate that reads "Rest Awhile Ride For Miles." It has a tow hitch, Chevrolet branded mud flaps, and a roof rack. The vehicle may have bullet holes or broken windows on the passenger side of the vehicle, police said.
