LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Property owners in Lower Merion Township will be happy to know the proposed 2024 budget does not include a real estate tax hike.

The proposed budget was presented to township officials Tuesday.

Should the budget pass as it stands, it would mark 13 years of no property tax increases in the township. As it stands, the township's tax rate is 4.19 mills.

With that millage rate, a property valued at $350,900 would pay $1,470 in township real estate taxes. That works out to about $123 per month.

While real estate taxes and sewer rental fees are not expected to change, solid waste fees will increase by 10 percent compared to 2023's fees.

The budget accounts for $72.5 million in revenue and $77.03 in expenditures. That gap will be filled by a drawdown on the general fund balance.

A breakdown of the budget is available online here.

The first public hearing on the budget is scheduled for Wednesday Nov. 15. The second is planned for Nov. 29 and adoption is scheduled for Dec. 13.
