Prescription Opioid Addition Topic Of Upcoming Lower Merion Town Hall

Topics will include what opioids are, why they are prescribed, signs and symptoms of addiction, safe use and handling, and more.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Township Health Advisory Council is hosting a virtual town hall that will discuss prescription opioids and addiction.

The event will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 8.

Topics will include what opioids are, why they are prescribed, signs and symptoms of addiction, safe use and handling, and risks of opioids not from a licensed pharmacy.

Leading the town hall will be Dr. Jeanmarie Perrone and Keli McLoyd.

Perrone is a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and founding Director of the Penn Center for Addiction Medicine and Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

McLoyd is the Deputy Director of the City of Philadelphia's Opioid Response Unit.
