Proposal Seeks Construction, Lot Consolidation At New LMSD School

The Lower Merion School District wants to create six natural grass athletic fields, add 53 parking spaces, and more at Black Rock Middle.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — The Lower Merion Township Planning Commission will weigh on the Lower Merion School District's land development proposal at the new Black Rock Middle School next week.

At 7 p.m. on Dec. 5, the commission will hear the district's proposal to consolidate two lots to create one 13.36-acre lot at 1800 W. Montgomery Ave. and 1835 County Line Road.

  • the construction of six, multipurpose, natural grass athletic fields;
  • the construction of 52 surface parking spaces;
  • adaptive reuse of the existing pool house located at 1835 County Line Road for District purposes such as meeting space for district organizations;
  • demolition of all improvements on 1800 W. Montgomery Ave. including the existing single-family dwelling, detached garage, and the garden walls and outbuildings;
  • installation of three stormwater management systems;
  • construction of a sidewalk along County Line Road and the driveway;
  • and construction of retaining walls varying from one to 18 feet in height.

The meeting will be held in the 2nd Floor Board Room of the Township Administration Building, 75 East Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore.

In-person attendance by the public will be permitted at this meeting.
