Signs dropped off at the transfer station will be recycled rather than discarded as trash.

Fifteen other sites across the county will also be collecting the signs for recycling. Drop-off sites will accept campaign yard signs during their normal hours of operation.

Accepted materials are paperboard and plastic (corrugated and film) yard signs and metal stands.

"Campaign yard signs are either paperboard or plastic with a metal stand," Veronica Harris, recycling manager for Montgomery County, said. "Plastic signs and metal stands cannot go into the regular curbside recycling; that is only for paper and packaging. Instead of sorting through what can or cannot be recycled, bring the signs to a participating location and we’ll sort through it for you."

The Lower Merion Transfer Station is located at 1300 N. Woodbine Ave. in Penn Valley.
