St Joe's Pedestrian Bridge Work To Impact Traffic Through May 11

PennDOT said lane reductions and road closures on City and Cardinal avenues have been extended through May 11 due to the project.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Work on the St. Joseph’s University pedestrian bridge in Lower Merion and Philadelphia has been extended, according to PennDOT.

The work was to be completed May 3, but officials said the work will last through May 11 now.

This will impact City Avenue/U.S. 1 and Cardinal Aavenue.

Through Saturday, May 11, City Avenue will be reduced 24/7 to a single lane in each direction between 59th Street and Lapsley Lane.

Traffic will be shifted to accommodate the new pattern.

Also through Saturday, May 11, a 24/7 closure is scheduled on Cardinal Avenue between City Avenue and Overbrook Avenue/Wynnefield Avenue.

During the closure, motorists will use 59th Street, Overbrook Avenue, Wynnefield Avenue, and 54th Street.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
