Virtual Seminar Will Highlight Challenges Of Parenting Teens

Program will address substance abuse and show Chester County parents, caregivers and educators how to identify signs of trouble.

ARDMORE, PA —On Tuesday evening, the nonprofit organization Be A Part of the Conversation will host a virtual program titled "Parenting On Your Feet: Tools for Talking with Teens." In the program experts will address challenges facing Chester County parents, caregivers and educators, including those surrounding teenage drug use.

The free seminar will last from 7 p.m. to 8:30. Registration must be done online. The program is funded by the Chester County Department of Drug & Alcohol Services in partnership with the Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital.

According to a release, the program will feature an expert panel that will address issues like cannabis and alcohol use, impaired driving and vaping by teenagers. One of the highlights will be a tour of a mock teen bedroom, which will help adults to identify the signs of substance use and abuse and trends that put teens at risk.

On its website, Be Part of the Conversation is described an organization working to create effective culture-changing programs designed to significantly increase awareness of the effects of alcohol and other drug use. The group is a collaboration of community leaders, students, school representatives and families who believe that having meaningful, inclusive conversations will support individuals and their families in their efforts to develop healthy coping skills and access support whenever there is a need.
