Wynnewood Woman, Dedicated Dentistry Educator, Passes At 61

Dr. Sarah "Sally" Gray is remembered as an active community member, dedicated dentistry educator, and a loving mother, wife, and friend.

Sarah Ann Gray (Gibson) DDS, MS of Wynnewood peacefully passed away while surrounded by her family on January 10, 2018. Sally was born to Martha (Rose) and Roy Gibson on November 19, 1956 in Oceanside, California. She and her four siblings grew up travelling, having homes in California, England, Ohio, Indiana, Texas, and Pennsylvania. She went to Pennsylvania State University, where she met her husband of forty years, Glenn.

Together they went to Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry and Sally continued her studies as a specialist in Prosthodontics. She continued her academic career at Temple for thirty-five years serving as a devoted tenured faculty member and administrator. She served many roles including Assistant and Associate Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs; Acting Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics; Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs; Supervisor of the Admissions and Emergency Clinics; Director of the Treatment Planning and Preventive Dentistry/Recall Clinics; Director of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry; Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; Vice Dean; and Associate Dean for Graduate Education. Her many titles only touch the surface of her impact on colleagues and students and her contributions to the university.

She was a loving mother to three children: Christopher, Lauren, and Holly. She raised her family in Narberth where she also contributed to the community. She was an officer of the Narberth Fourth of July Committee and served as a leader of both Boy Scout Troop #176 and Venture Crew #176. She was passionate about her community and those in it.

She is survived by her mother, husband, children, brothers (Stewart and Roy) and sister (Martha). She will be remembered for her loving nature, adventurous spirit, calming presence and sense of humor.

Sally has touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, Sally requested donations be sent to the Colon Cancer CTM Research Fund, Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market Street, Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
