$63K Worth Of Designer Bags Stolen In Main Line Theft, Teen Charged: Police

Police an organized theft at Saks Fifth Avenue ended with about $63,000 in designer bags being taken and a teenager in police custody.

BALA CYNWYD, PA — About $63,000 worth of designed handbags were stolen from a high-end Bala Cynwyd retailer, and Lower Merion Police said a teenager was taken into custody in connection with it.

The incident occurred Saturday at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd.

Police said four people came into the store and started snatching up designed handbags.

Store security saw them taking the items and chased them out of the store, with one brandishing a knife.

While three of the suspects were able to make off with merchandise, one person, 17 years old, was taken into custody.

Police said this incident was similar to other organized thefts that have occurred in and around the region.

However, this group was different from the group that authorities in Philadelphia said they busted recently.

The ring targeted Lululemon and Givenchy stores in Philadelphia, Ardmore, Upper Merion, authorities said.

Jahide Robinson, 18; Ayonna Robinson; and Amber Pecola Robinson, 32; and Aainyae Robinson, 21; all of Philadelphia, were charged with felony retail theft and felony receiving stolen property in connection with a May 14 theft at the Ardmore Lululemon store.
