'Heavy Rain' Coming for Delaware County

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying thunderstorms will be accompanied by heavy rainfall.

“Heavy” rain is predicted to fall in Delaware County Monday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service says.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying thunderstorms will be accompanied by heavy rainfall that could cause localized flooding of roads and areas with poor drainage.

“Also, the thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong wind gusts along with frequent cloud to ground lightning, especially this afternoon. The threat for heavy rain decreases after 9 p.m. Monday.”

Intermittent storms throughout the week and heading into next Sunday will produce about two to four inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday and Friday are shaping up to be sunny respites from the deluge.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms after 10 am. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 84.

Thursday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 9 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Friday Partly sunny, with a high near 86.
