Inaugural Havertown Irish Fest Set For Saturday

The first annual celebration of the "33rd County of Ireland" is all set for Saturday, rain or shine.

HAVERTOWN, PA – The First Annual Havertown Irish Festival is coming to the Hvaerford area to celebrate the "33rd County of Ireland" Saturday, June 24.

The festival will run from noon to 9 p.m. in the rear parking lot of Manoa Shopping Center in Havertown. The event will be held rain or shine.

Entry is free, but a $3 donation is suggested to help fund future events.

The inaugural festival will feature food, drink, and music, all in the spirit of Ireland.

Along with all day music, the Havertown Irish Festival will feature the best food with an Irish flair from area restaurants and bars, including the great merchants of the Manoa Shopping Center.

Alcohol is not permitted into the festival, however attendees who are 21 years of age or older will be able to purchase wine and beer inside the festival with proper identification.

Irish associations, guilds, and clubs will present their areas of expertise and celebrate the unique Irish culture, legends, and traditions handed down through generations and still vibrant today.

Area businesses will spotlight their services, local non-profits will promote their missions, local artisans and craftspeople will be offering their unique Irish-themed items for sale.

Kids will be kept entertained with activities and crafts, as well.

Fr. Kevin Gallagher of St. Denis Church in Havertown will serve as the festival's Grand Marshall.

"Haverford Township’s music and arts reputation continues to grow. The concentrated Irish population in Havertown, Upper Darby and across Delaware County is greater than anywhere in the region," Tom Kelly, director of Kelly Music For Life, said. "We have had terrific cooperation from Haverford Township and the Manoa Shopping Center in making this celebration a reality."

The Havertown Irish Festival is produced by Kelly Music for Life, a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to improving lives and communities through music.

The Havertown Irish Festival will benefit local music programs, the Kelly Music Center Project and other community initiatives.

The Havertown Irish Festival will be streamed live around the world on iRadioPhilly's live broadcast station.
