Legendary Eagles Coach Dick Vermeil Sends Message To Spring-Ford

"Remember, hard work is not a form of punishment. It's a problem solver."

ROYERSFORD, PA — Legendary Eagles coach and Super Bowl champion Dick Vermeil recorded a video message for Spring-Ford recently, stressing the value of dedication and reminding student-athletes that "hard work is not a form of punishment, it's a problem solver."

The message was shared to the Spring-Ford Rams Football Facebook page on Friday morning. Vermeil is a former "Ram" himself, coaching the St. Louis Rams for several years.

Vermeil, 82, was the coach of the Eagles for six years in the 1970s and early 80s, leading the Birds to Super Bowl 15, which they lost to the Oakland Raiders. After a lengthy hiatus, he went on to lead the Rams to victory in Super Bowl 34.

The message is below:

"Hello, Spring-Ford Rams. Remember, the Rams have been winners for a long time, and I know you guys can be winners, all you have to do is go to work. And remember, hard work is not a form of punishment. It's a problem solver, it helps you get better. It helps you solve other things as you go along through life regardless of what you do. But anyway, good luck to you, work hard, take pride in your school name, the Rams, it means something, it means a lot to me, you make it mean a lot to you by giving everything you have to be good at what you're doing. Congratulations on making an effort to win every time."
