BUCKS COUNTY, PA — While it’s a great time to sell a home in Bucks County, it’s a complicated time to buy. Bucks homes are selling at prices 26.1 percent higher than this time 2020 according to the HomExpert Market Report, and state-wide real estate trends tell a similar story.

“Home sales are up, more than doubled, from June 2020,” said Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach President Joan Docktor. This company produces the report.

“While the number of properties sold has greatly increased compared to last year, there is still a lack of inventory of homes for sale, and those on the market are listed at higher than average sale prices,” she explained.

Bucks County’s 26.1 percent spike in home sale price was the highest increase seen in any of the firm’s Pennsylvania markets. The report said 6,470 homes sold in Pennsylvania in June 2021 — a 90.4 percent spike from June 2020’s 3,398 homes.

In Bucks County, a home’s average days spent on the market is down by 65 percent. The number of county homes for sale overall has decreased by 22 percent.

Gay Cororaton, director of housing and commercial research for the National Association of Realtors, said that the main factor in this high pricing trend is a historic lack of supply in the housing market nationally, with inventory at its lowest point this year since 1982. Experts expect home prices to remain high in the coming year.
