Columbus Blvd Lanes Reducing Through Mid 2025 For I-95 CAP Project

Parts of southbound Columbus Boulevard will be just reduced to just one lane and two lanes Monday through mid 2025, according to PennDOT.

PHILADELPHIA — The Interstate 95 CAP project in Philadelphia will impact traffic on Columbus Boulevard through mid 2025, PennDOT said.

Work on the major project will force southbound Columbus Boulevard to reduced from three lanes to two lanes between Race and Market street. Additionally, the road will be reduced from three lanes to one lane between Market and Walnut streets.

These reductions will begin Monday and are expected to last through the middle of 2025, PennDOT said.

This will allow crews to relocate a sewer line and construct foundations for a pier that will support the extension of the new covered area over I-95 and Columbus Boulevard.

Drivers are advised that the new restriction will create significant backups and delays on southbound Columbus Boulevard that may also impact southbound Delaware Avenue approaching Penn’s Landing.
