Fire At Philly Apartment Buildings Hurts 3, Displaces 50

The fire broke out at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in a four-story apartment complex at Cottman Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard.

PHILADELPHIA — About 50 people were displaced and three people were hurt when a fire broke out at a Northeast Philadelphia apartment complex Thursday night.

The fire broke out at the complex at about 9:24 p.m. at 7400 Roosevelt Boulevard, fire officials said.

First responders found fire coming from the fourth floor of the building.

At 9:37 p.m. the fire was raised to two alarms, then three alarms at 9:40 p.m. The blaze was raised to four alarms at 10:28 p.m.

By about 12:12 a.m., the fire was under control.

Displaced residents were given shelter by the American Red Cross and Philadelphia's Office of Emergency Management at Samuel Fels High School, 5500 Langdon St.

Two of the three people hurt were treated and one refused treatment. All suffered minor injuries.

No firefighters were hurt.

More than 140 firefighters and about 57 pieces of equipment were used in quelling the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
