PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville has expanded their list of recyclable items to include food and beverage cartons, they announced.

The expansion includes the packaging for both "shelf-stable" containers found on grocery store shelves, and refrigerated cartons.

Residents are asked to ensure that cartons are cleaned out of any food or liquid, and to not crush them.

Cartons are separated from other recyclable materials at the recycling sorting center and are used to make a wide variety of products, including paper towels, tissues, ceiling tiles, and roof cover board, according to the borough.
