Harris, Walz PA Bus Tour To Launch In Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA — Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will hit the road Sunday for a bus tour through Pennsylvania that will begin in Pittsburgh.

The Harris-Walz campaign made the announcement of the trek through the key battleground state early Wednesday. Specific stops on the route have not yet been released.

The tour will be the first time that Harris, Walz and their respective spouses – second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota first lady Gwen Walz – will campaign together. According to the campaign, the goal is to have multiple intimate events with voters, ranging from canvass kickoffs to stops at retail shops.

The Pennsylvania campaign swing will occur just days before the Democratic National Convention begins Aug. 22 in Chicago.

Campaign officials said they have 36 offices and 300 staffers across the state. More than 43,000 people have signed up to support the campaign in Pennsylvania since Harris replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the Democratic ticket four weeks ago.

The attention both major political parties are paying to Pennsylvania underscores the importance they are placing on capturing the swing state's 19 Electoral College votes.

JD Vance, the Republican vice presidential nominee, will make a campaign appearance in the Pittsburgh area on Thursday. Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump told Elon Musk in an interview on X Monday that in October, that he plans to hold another rally in Butler, where he nearly was assassinated at a campaign event last month.
