3 Dems Win On Conshohocken Borough Council, 2 Incumbents Overthrown

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — Democrats have taken three seats on the Conshohocken Borough Council, while an independent claimed the fourth.

Two incumbents were toppled, with Ward 7's Colleen Leonard and Ward 1's Karen Tutino both losing.

  • Ward 1: Alan Chmielewski (D) 320 over Karen Tutino (R) 167
  • Ward 3: Tina Sokolowski (D) uncontested
  • Ward 5: Kathleen Kingsley (D) 182 over Kevin Lukens 104
  • Ward 7: Ralph Frey (I) 226 over Colleen Leonard (D) 184

The presidential election is a year away, but the results of Tuesday night's local races in the Norristown area and across Pennsylvania will play a key role in the state's future. They'll also important insight into the political landscape of a swing state that could determine the balance of power in the executive and legislative branches next fall.

Results will be considered unofficial until all votes, including those cast via mail and in ballot drop boxes, have been counted.

With an increase in voting by mail, official results likely won't be available for a few days.

There are four Conshohocken Borough Council seats on the ballot Tuesday, with three of them contested. The seven-person board could see significant turnover, but incumbent Democrats are expected to maintain control in a heavily blue part of the county.

Ward 1

  • Democrat Chmielewski against Republican Karen Tutino (incumbent)

Ward 3

  • Democrat Tina Sokolowski (incumbent) is running uncontested

Ward 5

  • Democrat Kathleen Kinsey (incumbent) against Republican Kevin Lukens

Ward 7

  • Democrat Colleen Leonard (incumbent) against Republican Ralph Frey III
