Ex Delco Firefighter Heading To Trial For Attempted Murder, Child Sex Crimes

Charles Hall is accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl, then trying to kill her mother after breaking into their Wayne home.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A former Delaware County firefighter is heading to trial in September on charges of attempted murder, unlawful contact with a minor, burglary, and related crimes.

Charles Hall, 40, of Broomall, will stand for trial on Sept. 16, according to court documenets.

Hall was charged in late February with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and related charges, in connection with the stabbing of a Wayne woman on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Then on March 1, authorities filed five felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, felony endangering the welfare of a child, felony corruption of minors, and five counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old.

Those charges came after authorities said they learned Hall sexually assaulted the Wayne stabbing victim's daughter at a King of Prussia movie theater and mall while he, his wife, their daughter, and her friends celebrated a birthday, police told Patch.

The new charges list the incident date as Feb. 17.

Police said the victim is a friend of Hall's daughter.

Police told Patch Hall may have gone to the victim's home out of fear that her mother was planning to report the alleged sexual abuse to authorities.

Hall was a volunteer firefighter with the Broomall Fire Company, but was suspended until further notice and locked out of the fire station after he was initially charged.

On Feb. 25, Radnor Police were called to a home on the 200 block of Willow Avenue in Wayne for a report of a stabbing and found a woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, as well as a juvenile female suffering from injuries from trying to intervene in the stabbing.

The young woman gave a description of the suspect and told police it was Hall who attacked the adult woman, police said.

Not long after Radnor police took the report, Haverford Township Police found Hall while responding to a vehicle crash on Sproul Road.

Hall was identified and taken into custody without incident, police said.
