The steel drum, also known as the 
steelpan, is the national instrument of Trinidad and Tobago. Learn more 
about the history and background of this unique instrument and enjoy 
live music at the library! David Gettes, renowned steel drum player, 
maker, and teacher, founded his band <a href="https://www.trinidadnorth.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Trinidad North</a>
 in 1985 and has performed throughout our region and all over the world.
