Easttown Supervisors to Vote on Formally Adopting Earned Income Tax for 2025

The Easttown Supervisors have said they will formally vote whether to institute an Earned Income Tax at their meeting on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 7:00 PM in the lunch room at Beaumont Elementary School across the street from the township building.  This will follow the required three weeks of advertising the ordinance that would establish this tax, which the Supervisors voted to begin advertising at their July 15, 2024 meeting.  The ordinance will advertise an Earned Income Tax rate of 0.5%, or one half of one percent.  This would be levied against residents and those who work in the township but live elsewhere.  At the August 19th meeting there will be an opportunity for individuals to again voice their views on this new tax in person, whether for or against the tax.  If passed, the ordinance would take effect with tax collection beginning January 2025.  Information regarding the tax is available at easttown.org as part of the Agenda materials for the July 15th Board of Supervisor's meeting.  The Supervisors stated at that meeting that additional materials will also be provided prior to the August 19th meeting.
