John J. Voortman, Jr., 82, of Center Valley, died Monday, January 14, 2013, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Salisbury Twsp. Born December 5, 1930 in Upper Saucon Township, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude (Snyder) Voortman.
He and his wife Mildred M. (Handwerk) Voortman were married January 24, 1981; John worked for Mack Trucks, Allentown for 31 years before retiring in 1986 and had a life long love of farming.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: Step Son-Kerry Strohl of Lehigh Township Step Son-Barry Strohl of Travelers Rest, S.C. Son-James Voortman of Bethlehem Sister-Verna Fair Sister-Mildred Crush Sister-Pearl Beck Sister-Dorothy Smith Brother-Norman Voortman Brother-Richard Voortman Several Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.

Arrangements are being handled by Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, Pa., where the family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013.
A Memorial Service will be at Schisler Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013.
