Chesco November Election Certification Postponed Due To Court Order

Chester County has completed the requirement to review 266 mail-in ballots and a new date will be scheduled.

CHESTER COUNTY —The certification of the Chester County 2023 November election was delayed following a federal court ruling that allows for canvassing and tabulation of mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect dates, according to election officials.

A court order in the Western District of Pennsylvania required tabulation of mail-in ballots with missing or incorrect dates.

Chester County officials said Wednesday that the tabulation of up to 266 Chester County mail-in ballots that have missing or incorrectly dated envelopes began Monday, Nov.27, and is completed.

The certification was expected to occur on Nov. 22. A new date has not yet been scheduled.

The voter turnout for Chester County was 42.6 percent, with 161,032 total ballots cast. There are 377,759 registered voters in Chester County.
