'Targeted' Swastika Painted On Chester County Farm: Police

WESTTOWN, PA — A swastika was spray painted on a barn in Chester County recently in what police are calling a targeted hate crime, stunning a small and tight-knit community surrounding the nearby farm and school.

The incident occurred on Aug. 4 at around 6 p.m. at Farmer Jawn, located on 1023 Westtown Road.

The barn is owned by Westtown School, but leased by the farm. The swastika was discovered on the floor of the barn by a farm employee.

Police said the employee who discovered it was the "intended target."

Authorities said they are providing increased patrols in the area as a deterrence. The investigation remains underway.

"Due to this being active investigation, the police department will not be commenting further at this time," the Westtown Township Police Department said in a statement.

The owners of the farm issued a lengthy response denouncing the incident.

"This hateful symbol has no place in our world, and we are deeply saddened that such an act has taken place at our farm again—a place where we strive to grow love, unity, and respect regeneratively and organically," a spokesperson for the farm said. "We cannot and will not allow hate to take root here. Our team, made up of amazing people from diverse backgrounds, deserves to feel safe and respected."

The farm said that they are hosting an upcoming popup event entitled "Only Love Grows Here" to restate their commitment to solidarity with the community, while also providing educational information on the farm and it's objectives.
