West Chester Area Farmers Markets: Where To Find Fresh Goods Nearby

Farmers markets around West Chester offer fresh produce along with local goods that are fun to shop for in the open venues.

WEST CHESTER, PA — The goods are very good, but you've got to show up to gather them at your local farmers market around West Chester.

Local farmers markets, both outdoor and indoor, just keep growing in popularity. There is so much to draw us out. Local businesses can make a showing and it's a chance to sample something. Artists and artisans may be displaying their work, and there's often music.

Here are a few of the many farmers markets around West Chester where you can shop for what's fresh and local.

West Chester Growers Market is the place to head for producer-only goods; the person selling at the market is the person who grew or produced the food.

Now through December, the market is open every Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's right downtown at the corner of W. Chestnut and N. Church streets.

Westtown Amish Market is a local favorite. It's at 1165 Wilmington Pike and they're BBQ-ing this weekend in the Westtown Village Shopping Center. The market is open Thursdays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Baked goods, crab cakes, meats, and pickled goods, and even flowers are some of the Amish fare sold here. And pretzels, of course.

Downingtown Farmers Market happens in Kerr Park and the next market day is May 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market is brought by Growing Roots Partners, who also hold markets in Eagleview, Malvern, and West Reading.

Pete's Produce Farm has been growing and distributing produce right here for decades. You can find it at 1225 E. Street Road, and owner Pete Flynn said 2022 is his last growing season before he retires, so check it out. Pete's store also has baked and jarred goods, and they're open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Lancaster County Farmers Market in Wayne brings the best of the southeastern Pennsylvania region to Radnor Township, with a lot to choose from. The market is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

You'll find fresh produce, prepared meals, candy, pretzels, baked goods, and lots more at 389 Lancaster Ave., Wayne. One of the vendors is Good Harvest Farms, bringing hydroponics to its farm stand at the market in Wayne.

Oakmont Farmers Market in Haverford Township happens in the Grace Chapel parking lot on Eagle Road in Havertown every Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. This list of vendors sounds scrumptous, so make the trip.

Upper Merion Township operates a municipal farmer's market at 175 West Valley Forge Road, in King of Prussia. The market is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and runs through Nov. 19 this year.
