Andrew C. Smiley, Sr., 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2016 at home surrounded by family.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Beverly A (Rowley) Smiley. He was the son of the late Clifford E., Sr. and Agnes R. (Daugherty) Smiley.

Born in Providence, RI on June 25, 1927, Andrew joined the Merchant Marines at the age of 15 and sailed the world for five years aboard Liberty ships, after which he enlisted in the Air Force and served mostly in the Philippines for the next five years.

Upon returning home, Andrew followed family tradition and went into the home building business. Later, along with his wife, Beverly, they began A. C. Smiley, Inc., a real estate business which they ran for the next 40 years. He was also a partner along with his sons Andrew Jr., and Alan in Smiley Development until retiring in 2006.

Along with his wife, Andrew was a strong advocate of alternative and holistic health solutions, and would encourage everyone to explore these options. Smiley-Phippen and her husband Paul L. Coleman, David A. Smiley and his wife Sara, and Lynn E.
