Obituary: John A. Furia, Jr. 67, Vietnam Veteran

John A. Furia, Jr. 67, of Coventry, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 peacefully at home.

John A. Furia, Jr. 67, of Coventry, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 peacefully at home. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Pinelli) Furia.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John Sr. and Marie (Ferrara) Furia.
John worked as a supervisor for the Electric Boat Company for many years until his retirement. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, John Philip Furia and his wife Laura of Narragansett, Lea M. Furia and Erik Carbone of Coventry; cherished grandchildren Lily Rose Furia, Olivia May Furia, Alexia Lee Furia and Joseph Carbone; dear siblings Paul Furia of Riverside and Annmarie Dutra of Johnston. He is also survived by Jessica and Elana Capaldi.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, 15 George Waterman Rd., Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS will be Sunday from 12 noon – 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, In honor of Olivia May Furia, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
